As the kids get back to school this September, it’s time to meet a family who knows how to enjoy their summer. Anthony Yanni has been planning this family film with us for about a year now, as he wanted to surprise his wife Janice on her 40th birthday.

The family film revolves around the Yanni’s three children Addy, Noella and Anthony Jr. The three children incorporated their Mom into every activity they took part in that day, which included making her birthday cards, baking her a cake, and yelling “I Love You” every chance they got. From swinging to sliding, and gymnastics to hopscotch, this family tired us out!

The best part of this family film was that it was debuted on the big screen. Anthony surprised his wife by projecting the film on a screen in the family’s backyard during a late summer party. The video was a smash hit and will be a family keepsake for decades to come.

What do you get your wife for her 40th birthday? For Brendan O’Leary, the answer was simple. A family film featuring his two children served as the perfect surprise for his wife Trystan.

Brendan secretly took his two children out for an afternoon of fun including riding their bikes, playing sports, coloring, running around on the playground, and practicing the piano.  In the process, Madeline and Jake put together a list of the top ten reasons that their Mom is awesome! These two little O’Learys were one-take wonders too, as we did all but two of the top list items in one attempt. The following clip will take you through the middle of Madeline and Jake’s list as they had some fun in the process. The O’Leary’s will now have a Boston Family Film that will provide memories for decades to come…

JPod Productions was honored to be one of five video production companies who won multiple awards at the annual VISTA awards of New England on February 25, 2013 in Dedham, MA. Even though we consider ourselves a Boston Wedding video company, JPod Production’s top award came in the “Other” category for our short film “Meet Hannah”, as it received the coveted Gold Award. This film captures an emotional journey that a family enjoys while welcoming a new baby girl into their lives. It is a feature piece on the family films section of our website and the short film can be seen HERE.

JPod Productions also took home a bronze award for the second straight year in the “Full Wedding” category, which is the category that showcases our feature films. The Boston wedding video “Lauren + Jay” was one of our favorite films of all-time as the couples personality was a fun one to tell. The ceremony took place in Littleton, MA with the reception at the Barn at Gibbett Hill in Groton, Massachusetts. In addition to personally written vows, the couple took their “golden eggs” with them throughout the wedding day. The end of the ceremony and post-ceremony section of the feature film are featured in the video clip below.

The VISTA awards are a New England-based competition run by the New England Professional Videographer’s Association (NPVA). The NPVA is an organization of not only Boston wedding videographers and corporate producers, but companies across New England who meet once a month to learn from regional and national speakers who specialize in the film making industry. Awards in the VISTA competition are presented in four categories including “Full Wedding”, “Wedding Highlight”, “Corporate”, and “Other”. The “Full Wedding” category is comprised of longer videos that creatively document a couple’s complete wedding day. The “Other” category is designed for videos that do not fit into the other three categories of the competition.

It has been a crazy end to the summer and beginning of the fall at JPod Productions. We traveled with an extra shooter for the last six weeks just in case Hannah tried to make an early entrance into this world. But, like every good woman, she was fashionably late. One week late to be exact. So, without further ado, here is Hannah, New England’s newest little award-winning filmmaker.

We haven’t posted any clips from our family films in a while so here’s a new one. In our most recent Family Film, it was a destination film of sorts as we captured precious little Trinity in her Florida home this past spring. This little peanut, who turns two this summer, played with her Mom and Dad around the pool and gobbled up some lunch during our visit. This is just a short video clip from the full family film of Trinity and her family, but it captures her at an age where she is really beginning to express herself – they can here that little voice, see those little fingers and toes, and watch that smile over and over again. This is the week of the Family Film. When creating these family videos, our goal is capture families in their element. Doing what they do on a regular basis. For the Smiths, they are a sports-minded family and it was important to capture their children Summer and Colin on the field and in the pool.

Within the Family Film, it is our goal to hear the children speak, play, and be the kids that they are. In the Smith Film, we spent some time inside their playroom where Colin loves to hang out, and outside in their pool where Summer likes to hibernate. We were also able to capture some softball and baseball action to help round out their film. And to clarify, the Smith’s are diehard Red Sox fans, but Colin had some good fun teasing his Dad in Family Film. Thanks to Songfreedom for giving us a variety of good music to put behind these films.

At JPod Productions, we love to tell stories and those stories do not stop after the wedding day. Therefore, we have found another love in film-making and that is creating Family Films.

There is something precious about hearing a child’s voice, watching them play, and capturing a moment in time that will soon be lost. We often take pictures and video of our families, but we rarely piece them together into a treasured keepsake. The Family Film does just that! As time passes too fast and your children become young adults too quick, the Family Film captures your family as it is today.

Our first family video is what inspired it all – The Podworski Family Film. After getting some new equipment in the spring of last year, I shot a variety of video of my daughters at ages 5 and 2. Everyone who saw it wanted to have a family video done with their children. The Family Film below is the last half of the original version, as we had a little more footage than usual with the camera and children living in the same household. Nonetheless, it’s the first of a few films we will release this week showing how precious families can be on video.
