David and Clint found us online as they looked to plan an intimate fall wedding in the Public Gardens in the heart of Boston. It’s not often that we help plan the event, but photographer Darlene Devita (credit to her for the picture above) and I guided the couple and their four guests in making appropriate decisions on the date and time. Together, we all chose to go for a golden light ceremony during the mid-week, as we knew that the park would be much more crowded on a weekend day. After a late September, Thursday wedding date had to be rescheduled, we ended up with a Tuesday evening ceremony in the middle of October on picture-perfect fall day.

The amazing part about this evening was that it didn’t feel like an intimate, six person wedding. One of the reasons for that was that an impromptu group of Bostonians slowly gathered throughout the ceremony to create a slightly larger audience. The bigger reason that the wedding didn’t feel quite so intimate was because David and Clint included so many people from their lives within their ceremony. Within their ceremony, there were readings and poems from over a dozen people that were not able to attend the wedding in person, but were important to the couple. Some were funny, some were sweet, but what really came out was the personality of each individual and why they were great as a couple.

What I love about this wedding is that great things come out of tough situations. It is obviously that COVID and the pandemic has made life tough on people in so many ways. But, this wedding felt like one of those silver linings. It made the best of a situation in the most personal and romantic way. I hope you enjoy this Boston wedding film as much as we enjoyed sharing in David and Clint’s intimate wedding day.

This wedding season has been a whirlwind for sure, but the silver lining in it all is that we have been filming the sweetest intimate weddings during this pandemic. Julie and Jeremy were one of those weddings as they chose to still get married in 2020 even though they postponed their larger event at the Boston Harbor Hotel to 2021. After looking around at a couple of potential venues, friends of Julie and Jeremy offered their Sudbury home as the backdrop for their micro wedding.

And, what a venue it was! The ceremony space was set-up with a beautiful walkway through a section of trees that led to a shaded space in the yard where a hydrangea-decorated Chuppah awaited the couple. The reception, which included the first dance, a father-daughter dance, and several speeches, took place in a perfectly-decorated, rustic barn on the property which was open on both sides with just enough room to social distance all of the guests. There were also so many cute spots and beautiful landscaping in and around the property for our photo session with Jill Person Photography.

So, people keep asking us, what does a micro-wedding look like? Julie and Jeremy did a great job following the guidelines throughout the wedding day. Masks were worn throughout the day, even throughout the outdoor ceremony with the exception of the processional and recessional for the couple themselves. The highlight of the day could have been Julie’s father’s mask which was designed to look like a tux with a little bow tie on top. You can see it HERE in an Instagram post that we shared recently. With an outdoor reception and proper spacing, the guests took off their masks for the reception. The couple had food catered by a local restaurant that gave each table of 2-3 people their own “box” of food. Enjoy our latest Boston wedding film…

Tyler Unwin was the first of two JPod filmmakers and editors to get married in 2017. Tyler edited for us when he was in college at Western New England University, and he has now worked his way up the television chain to become a full-time videographer at Fox 25 News in Boston. Tyler met his beautiful bride Devon in their hometown in Vermont, as these high school sweethearts have stood the test of time including challenging bouts of long distance dating to reach their wedding day in the fall of 2017.

Tyler and Devon chose the beautiful Oceancliff Resort and Hotel as the backdrop for their fall wedding day. Devon and the girls got ready in one of my favorite bridal suite spaces, the Gatehouse, which is located at the front of the 10 acre property over looking Narragansett Bay. The card and gift exchange were very emotional, as Tyler wowed the bridal suite crowd with a box of Venus ET Fleur eternal roses. The couple chose to do a first look and pre-ceremony photo session, which I highly recommend if you want to look your best and have more time to enjoy your cocktail hour and reception.

The weather was picture perfect for an early October Day in Newport, Rhode Island. Devon and Tyler chose to have their wedding late in the afternoon taking advantage of their golden hour light by the water. What they didn’t expect is that a cruise ship would travel through the Bay right as Devon came down the aisle. The ship was kind enough to send a congratulatory horn signal to Devon and Tyler right as the ceremony was about to begin. It’s a moment that the couple and their guests will be talking about for years to come. A beautiful sunset graced the cocktail hour, as it may have been our best sunset of the year. In addition to the beautiful traditional decor, Devon and Tyler made sure that their dog, Coco, was included in the details. They had cutouts of Coco for their photo booth, and a doggie bag bar for guests to bring home treats to their lovable, furry friends. Enjoy our latest Boston wedding film from the edge of Narragansett Bay.

When two musically talented individuals come together like Christina and Steve, a harmonious melody is created and developed until we have a fantastic Boston wedding film. That is just the beginning of the musical references on this wedding day, as this Basoonist and her musically talented husband came together for an amazing wedding. Christina and Steve found us through one of our former brides, Tiffany Renfro (Tiffany + Matt). At our initial meeting at Starbucks in Newton, Christina and I hit it off immediately, and their fall wedding in the city sounded like it was going to be an amazing event.

Christina and Steve were married at St. Cecilia Church in Boston, with the reception taking place on the 33rd floor of the scenic State Room at 60 State Street. This couple, who met at the New England Conservatory of Music, planned a wedding with lots of musical touches including a string quartet at the ceremony, the amazing band Night Shift at the reception, and we even filmed Steve serenading Christina with a little Frank Sinatra number to end the reception formalities. You would never know it from the decor, but the wedding was a flower-free event. Christina took her vision to Table and Tulip who designed a beautiful array of ferns, branches and greens to create classic and elegant tablescapes. The other thing I will always remember about the day was the photo session. It ended during rush hour on a Friday night with a street shot of Christina and Steve in a cross walk without a car driving on the road. How this  happened on a Friday night in Boston, I will never know. Nonetheless, it was an amazing way to end that part of the wedding day.

Much of that photo session was amazing because we were working with not only a gorgeous couple, but a talented photographer in Emily Tebbetts. From the preparations at the Fairmont Copley to the dancing at the State Room, working with Emily and her sidekick Lexi was seamless and amazing as always. Emily and Christina were a good match too, because of their love of cats. Christina’s cats make cameo appearances on the cake topper, while the bride’s shoes also reflected her love of felines. Cats would probably be listed as the sub-theme of this wedding. Enjoy our latest Boston wedding film from some of our favorite spots in the city.

Zach and Chris’ Boston wedding film was the third wedding overall and the second this year that we have filmed for the Renfro family. For Zach and Chris, opposites definitely attract in many ways. Zach is outgoing, while Chris is more reserved. Zach runs, Chris lifts weights. Zach is a doctor, Chris is a lawyer. But together, these two are an unstoppable force of love and dedication to one another.

Zach and Chris started their day with preparations at the Fairmont Copley, and their exchange of gifts was a cool way to begin the day. It was evident at this point what a great connection these two had with one another. A first look outside on Copley Square, right near the Fairmont Copley was a second sweet moment early in this wedding day. Next, the couple travelled the city by trolley for a photo session that brought us to many of their favorite locations. It was during this time, we got to meet their first child Ezra, who is a young, energetic yellow Labrador retriever. After a brilliant early night photo session on iconic Acorn Street, we headed to the Boston Public Library for a sophisticated ceremony and reception.

We were fortunate to be surrounded by an all-star team of wedding professionals including Jill Person from Person + Killian Photography, Eye 2 Eye of Wilson Stevens Productions, Winston Flowers, A Catered Affair and Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting Design. It was the second time we got to work with one of our former brides and wedding planner Kate Evans of Kate Evens Events. She kept the whole day running extremely smoothly, while Suzanne and the Catered Affair staff turned the library into a elegantly designed space. Enjoy our latest Boston Wedding Film from the city’s Back Bay.

Meghan and Teddy were recommended to JPod Films through some friends of theirs. We loved the story of how they met, as they didn’t have the typical amazing love-at-first-site scenario. The two met at the less-than-romantic bar named Bradley’s Cafe near Providence College. Their initial meeting didn’t have Teddy sweeping Meghan off her feet, but over time, these two became a great couple.

The couple wanted an upbeat vibe to their highlight film, and their wedding day had so many fun moments that we had no problem delivering energy to this recap of their wedding day. One of the funny themes to this wedding was the fact that Meghan was not excited about giving up her last name of Glynn and changing it to Kinneen. The Phrase “Mrs. Teddy Glynn” kept arising throughout the day. She was funny about it, but I definitely know how this story goes. My wife had to give up Maloni to become Podworski. 🙂 We loved the gift exchange, as Teddy built Adirondack Chairs for Meghan, while Meghan gave Teddy some new artwork incorporating their wedding date for their house. Both gifts had that personal touch that we love to see.

Meghan and Teddy were married at St. Cecilia Parish on Belvidere Street in Boston, with the bride preparations and reception taking place at the Omni Parker House Hotel. Much to our delight, we got to work with photographers Mariah and Trish from Snap! Weddings for the second time in as many years. The band Clockwork got the dance floor moving for the evening and we loved the flowers from Rose Hill Garden. Enjoy our latest Boston Wedding Film…

Our latest Boston Wedding Film was another Boston couple traveling back to the couple’s home area of Northern Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. We met Alyssa and Matt through one of our favorite couples, Liz and Jon. I actually covered Jon’s early baseball days while I worked at 22News, and then later coached against Matt and his best man CJ’s high school hockey team when I left the television business. The couple was engaged for almost a year and a half, after Matt proposed to Alyssa at a waterfront restaurant in Boston by having the ring delivered on a platter.

This was one of our few Friday weddings in 2015 and it was held all within a 1/2 mile radius of The Riverview in Simsbury, Connecticut. After preparations and a first look at the Simsbury Inn, the couple was married under a tent by the river at the Riverview. Alyssa + Matt could definitely pass as friends of ours as they used their favor to donate to the MSPCA, and Alyssa scored big points for the Bruins/Patriot inspired groom’s cake. Robyn and Joe had one of the most unique wedding days that we have ever filmed. With an October 17th wedding date, there was peak foliage on Haystack Mountain at the Hermitage Club in West Dover, Vermont. What we didn’t expect was the coating of snow that fell during the second half of the day. The result was our first Boston Wedding Film that saw a couple enjoy photographs on their wedding day in both peak foliage and in the snow.

Robyn and Joe were one of our latest bookings of the year, as they chose a short engagement and found us who somehow had the third weekend in October open (this never happens). The couple chose the ever-expanding Hermitage Club for their wedding venue, which is a great new open space, with a large Cabin-like feel in Southwestern Vermont. The couple chose to have a first look by the lake at the bottom of Haystack Mountain, and then moved back up the mountain for their ceremony and reception inside the Hermitage Club itself.

This Vermont wedding film has lots of great details, including a candle-lined aisle which led to a gorgeous chuppah decorated by Janet Boyd of Boyd Family Farm. Liz Ligon was great to work with on the photography side, and we always love working with the band Honey Train, who filled the dance floor for us for the second time this season.

One of our favorite type of weddings to cover are ones with ties to the military. There is something about the brotherhood and sisterhood within the military that makes their weddings unique. There is just a special bond between friends and family from the military that is hard to duplicate. Dave and Colleen’s wedding had that bond. It was the bride, her brother and the maid of honor who all shared this Marine bond. This Boston wedding film is one about family.

Colleen and Dave’s wedding was a special on for us at JPod Films, as we have known the bride and groom for quite some time. We actually vacation in neighboring cottages during the same week each summer on the Cape. These weddings become a little bit more pressure-filled for us, but in a good way. They always seem to spawn our creative juices.

The wedding took place around the Worcester area, as Colleen and Dave had an afternoon ceremony at the First Congregational Church in West Boylston, MA. The reception moved guests into the majestic Mechanics Hall in Worcester. As one of the grandest of venues, the possibilities are endless when filming in this theater-styled venue. A second part of this wedding that stood out was the food. For dinner, the couple chose to have Russell Morin Catering pass continuous hoerderves with a few food stations around the outskirts of the reception area. The food amazing and some of the best we experienced all season, and it seemed like the dinner was being served for the whole night. Here is our latest Boston Wedding Film that revolves around family…

For the second year in a row, JPod Films was happy to be the video sponsor for Eventiques, an event created by New England Wedding Planners Ruthie McDonald and Lauren Mace of Eutopia Events.  Ruthie and Lauren, with an acceptional team of helpers, put together the event which is subtitled, A Wedding and Event Flea Market. Eventiques allows former brides the opportunity to sell their one-time use, wedding related items from wedding dresses to detail-related items like mason jars, lanterns, vases, wine cork placecard holders, linens and so much more. It’s like a live pinterest board in one locations, and everything is for sale. Wedding planners and brides who are planning their big day have the opportunity to find an amazing array of unique items for their event at prices that are much lower than purchasing them brand new.
