Category Archives: Vendor Spotlight

As wedding professionals, we find it very important to continuously stay educated. Part of that process is to network with professionals from across the wedding and event industry. It helps us stay up-to-date with current trends, and communicate with other vendors to try and make everyone’s job easier on an event day. Last month we had the opportunity to network at the monthly meeting for the New England Chapter of the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) which was held at The Pierce House in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

In addition to participating at the networking portion of the meeting, JPod Films was asked to sponsor the meeting by creating a recap film of the event. It is the first of two films that we will be creating for the New England NACE group this year. It was a great event to film, as the evening was centered around a variety of team building activities. Yep, the competitive juices came out. Four teams battled it out in activities varying from trivia to straw building. What is that you ask? Watch the recap film and you will see.

It was great to partner with so many great wedding professionals who also sponsored this event. First, there was Kataram Studios as we shared the floor with these talented photographers to capture the event. Rob Peters Entertainment provided the team building entertainment. Our pallets were filled with delicious food from Cava Catering and Events, as well as an outstanding dessert table from Montilio’s Baking Company. Adding to this great event were planner Luba Mitnik-Gankin from Primavera Dreams Wedding Planning and Design, Floral Notes, XO The Girls Event Rentals, Sound City Entertainment and The Gilded Harps.

In 2016, we started building an amazing relationship with wedding and event design powerhouse SD Events (Simple Details Events). Not only did we film one of their amazing Cape Cod weddings this fall, but we started sharing space with them and Allegro Photography in Wellesley, MA last March. The thing that I like most about Tasha Bracken and her team is the way they make the wedding day run smoother without getting in the way. Tasha, Priscilla and Lindsay know when they need to step in and take control, and when to step back and let the day flow. They are a planning team that works in unison with each professional to maximize the impact of each service provided. If you don’t want to take my word for how good they are, listen to groom Konrad Martin talk about SD Events at his wedding…

Our SD Event designed wedding took place at the Chatham Bars Inn in November of this year with a clambake rehearsal dinner, a classic Catholic ceremony in Brewster and a lavish reception that included the couple flying in the same pianist who played the music during their first ever dance together. Below is the couple’s wedding trailer film, which is a preview of their longer Boston wedding film that is yet to come. (photo credit – Allegro Photography)

We love working with new bands each and every year. In 2015, we were introduced to a new band from Boston named Honey Train. They were the entertainment at Clare and Jake’s spring wedding at the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

We truly appreciate when bands bring the same cooperative, “whatever is best for the couple” attitude to the wedding day. That was the immediate feeling I received from Honey Train’s band leader Jason Felitto. Additionally, one important part of the wedding day for us is that we need great audio for our wedding films. To accomplish this, we always work with the DJ or band to try and capture the best audio possible from the reception, especially for the toasts. Honey Train was super cooperative in this respect. The experience was the same when we had the pleasure of working with Honey Train again in October, as they played for Robyn + Joe’s wedding at the Hermitage Club in West Dover, VT. We captured the following footage for the band at that wedding.

Why else do we like them? First of all, we love a band that gets a crowd moving and dancing. It obviously makes our wedding films better and Honey Train has passed the test multiple time here. Secondly, they create a great live and interactive experience as they will get out on the dance floor and engage the wedding couple and their guests. Finally, they bring that cooperative attitude. Joya, Ryan, Jay, Dennis, Kyle, Jordan, Brandon all work hard and want what is best for the couple and it shows. Enjoy two quick clips from one of our latest Boston Wedding Films.

In week three of our four-part series highlighting the four wedding photographers that have their images featured on our JPod Films website, we are featuring a couple who has supported us tremendously from day one. Dave and Eileen Breveglerei of Breveglerei Photography were the first photographers to really start referring our Boston wedding films. We will never forget where we came from…

Dave and Eileen are the perfect husband and wife team, as Dave is the technical guru who I can geek out with over cameras and road cycling. Eileen brings a punch of personality, as she is so much fun to be around. With that said, she can still round up and reign in the rowdiest of wedding parties as good as anyone.

When we work with Dave and Eileen, we always seem to fuel each other’s creative juices. One great idea will lead to another during the couple’s photo session. We always like to try and outdo each other’s ring shots too. It’s that kind of fun competitiveness that benefits the couple in the end. Check out some of their work below and visit their website HERE.

Last week, we started a four-part series highlighting the four wedding photographers that have their images featured on our JPod Films website. This week we are highlighting Seth Kaye Photography. We biasedly love Seth, because he is a photographer who is not afraid to snap some behind the scene shots throughout the wedding day. His pictures now represent our best “action” shots of us at work while creating our Boston wedding films.

Although Seth and I became friends more recently, we have known each other for over 20 years, as we went to the same high school. When we started our company over ten years ago, it definitely made it easier having a few friends and acquaintances in the industry. Seth was one of those people.

If you look at Seth’s work, you can tell he definitely looks through the lens a little differently than a lot of photographers. From the technical side, I enjoy watching Seth experiment with different lenses in different situations throughout the day, while still getting the “must-have” shots. For the casual observer, his keen eye means that his photographs have that unique look and variety that many couples desire.

Lastly, you will not meet a more calm and relaxed photographer on the wedding day. That calmness is a great thing to have around when things get hectic. Check out a few of Seth’s images below and check out his website HERE.

One of the great things about the wedding industry is that there are truly a lot of great people who give everything they have for the couples who hire them. When we rebuilt our website last year, we turned to a few of our friends in the industry to help with feedback as our new website developed.

We also were fortunate enough to build relationships with photographers who actually provided some visual content for a few of our JPod Films webpages. I will always preach that you should have a wedding film, but I will also tell you that our Boston wedding films compliment the pictures that you will receive from your chosen photographer. When we built our site, I wanted to support those who supported us. Therefore, we are going to feature each of the four photographers who have wedding photos highlighted on our website one by one. We are going to start with Massart Photography.

We met Audrey and Seth from Massart Photography at Skye and Corey’s wedding in Boston. In our pre-wedding phone conversation with Audrey and Seth, we had an instant connection. The conversation was simply about what was most important to each of us throughout the day. Once the wedding day began, we just fueled off each other with ideas from the bridal suite to the photo session. When we work with photographers like Audrey and Seth, our wedding films always flourish.

Massart Photography is based in Rhode Island, but Audrey and Seth work are often found in Boston and elsewhere in Massachusetts filming weddings, newborn sessions and more. As an artist, I love that they are not afraid to play with light sources and utilize lighting in new and different ways. They really like to take advantage of natural light too, which is something we love as filmmakers. It’s this type of creativity that brings out some of the best images. To check out more of their site, visit their website HERE. Listed below are a few of our favorite images of theirs from the website, as well as Skye and Corey’s wedding.

A while back, we had a vendor of the month feature on our blog. In the spring and fall, we had so many great professionals to write about. But, we would have to wait months sometimes to share the love, because there was only one wedding professional each month. Therefore, we are reintroducing the feature on our blog, but this time it will be called the Vendor Spotlight. Now, we can share some of the best professionals in the wedding industry in a timely manner.

So, who got our juices flowing again? It was Matt and Liz of Hinkley Photo out of New Hampshire. We worked with this dynamic, married duo a few weeks ago at Church Landing on the edge of Lake Winnipesaukee. If we have never worked with a photography company before, we always try and reach out to photographers beforehand to introduce ourselves. Well, Matt beat me to the punch. The pre-wedding conversation was everything it was supposed to be: productive, cooperative and professional. I knew we were going to have a good day that Saturday.

Sure enough, the wedding day came and the two of us worked in unison creating a great product for our couple. We shared ideas, hustled side-by-side and laughed throughout the day.  Matt and Liz even helped us with a camera issue we had come up during the day. We borrowed their Canon 5Diii a few times to get that extra shot, or quality we were looking to capture. Total team players. We were super thankful for that. But, that is not why they made the blog. It was just the overall experience of working alongside them. On our ride home, Matt called us and we talked and laughed for a good 30 minutes about the day and our businesses. Our companies were just a great fit together. And we hope it happens again soon. Check our Matt and Liz’s work at www.hinkleyphoto.com, and check out a few of their stunning images from that wedding day below.

At JPod Productions, we’ve had the opportunity to team up with several of Massachusetts’ top vendors on a variety of projects recently. One of those projects had us filming some testimonials for Dani Fine Photography of Northampton. Dani’s studio is considered one of the top studios in the western part of the state (Western Mass.) and that has her photography teams shooting at many of the top venues in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Northampton wedding Photographer Testimonial

We’ve had the opportunity to work with Dani and her staff on multiple projects now and they definitely provide their clients with top notch images. Whether it’s wedding photography, corporate head shots, or baby bump and family photography, Dani’s team has the ability to photograph it all. The Dani Fine Staff has also been a large proponent of boudoir photography, which has been one of the most popular gifts for brides to give their husband-to-be on the wedding day. I could write all day, but the better way to find out what Dani Fine Photography is all about is to watch their testimonial video…

June is the month that we have dedicated to getting the Boston Wedding Video blog back on a regular schedule. We start the month off with the old tradition of honoring some of the “Best Vendors” around New England. We work with a variety of wedding vendors every weekend and we like to share some of the wedding professionals that brides should consider when planning their wedding weekend.

Boston Wedding Planner

First up is a wedding planner that we worked with while shooting a Boston wedding video at the Royal Sonesta last month. Marrero Events was brought in to organize and manage an extremely detailed wedding plan in the capital city of Massachusetts.

Marrero Events is owned by Paula Marrero and she comes with a plethora of experience planning high-end events.  Paula burst on the Boston wedding planning scene as she managed events for Celebrity Chef Todd English. Now Paula heads a company that plans events from casually elegant to absolutely breathtaking. Marrero Events offers event planning services from Day of Coordinating to Complete Wedding Planning.

At last month’s wedding, Paula was joined by one of her new assistants, Courtney Graham. Paula and Courtney organized the wedding activities, which spanned well over 12 hours, meticulously. The wedding had an iconic Boston theme with details including a rehearsal dinner in Faneuil Hall, a T-train place card display, and a photo session that crossed the city to famous Boston sites. The continuous activities from the Tish, Ketubah signing, pre-ceremony reception, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were littered with special touches that Paula and Courtney made sure hit their mark. If you need to take the stress out of your wedding day, I would highly recommend you contact Marrero Events (www.marreroevents.com) for your event. A Boston wedding video from this wedding will be on our blog before the end of the month, as the couple chose to add a highlight film to their feature film investment.
