Category Archives: Ceremony Venues

We continue to film at new wedding venues every year across New England, but one group of venues has really made an impression on us. Longwood Events out of Boston, Cape Cod, Newport and Nantucket has six top-notch wedding sites and they are our Vendor of the Month for October.

We last worked in the heart of Boston at the State Room  this past summer, as we teamed with Bob Manning, who owns Robert Charles Films out of Savannah, GA and Pittsburgh, PA. The former New Englander contacted us to shoot with him as he created a Boston wedding video which I have shared below. The State Room sits on the top of 60 State Street and provides tremendous views of the Boston Harbor and other sights in Downtown Boston. In June, we were lucky enough to enjoy a ceremony and reception in the State Room. I have shared a few photos from the State Room below.

The other venues that are part of the Longwood group are the incredible Belle Mer which is an oceanfront property in Newport, Rhode Island. A second waterside location is the Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich, Massachusetts on the south side of Cape Cod. Both of these locations have incredible ceremony and reception options for a Newport or Cape Cod Wedding video. A fourth location is Alden Castle which is a modern vintage venue in the center of Boston. The last two sites are the laid back Nantucket Beach Club on Jetties Beach in Nantucket and the intimate Longwood Bateau which can accommodate up to 8 people for an event on the water.

I love the professionalism that is displayed at these venues, as they are tops in New England for service, attention to detail and overall delivery to their couples. Below is a Boston wedding video from the State Room that I was part of in June. As mentioned earlier, I teamed with an out of town company to bring the Boston highlight video to the couple. So, if you’re looking for a top-notch wedding reception venue with elegance and modern style, check out Longwood Events.

The vendor of the month is rated as the top resort in Massachusetts by resortsandlodges.com. The Cranwell Resort, Spa & Golf Club in Lenox, Massachusetts is right at the top of my list of favorite places to shoot a wedding year after year. The Cranwell, located in the beautiful Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts, offers an impeccable outdoor ceremony site that includes a gorgeous mountain backdrop and a stunning staircase to begin the bride’s walk down the aisle.

Every reception that I have attended at the Resort has run flawlessly, no matter if it was held inside the ballroom or outside in the tent. The ballroom boasts tall ceilings and beautiful design, which fits many different wedding sizes. The outdoor tent provides a second great option, as the Cranwell boasts one of the few sites where your reception can stay in the fresh air. And hats off to the Chef, as the sea bass is the best wedding dish I’ve tasted. The bridal suite is a generously-sized two-room layout that is ideal for a bride’s preparations. Photo options are unlimited with charming choices inside and gorgeous views and architecture outside which translates to stunning photos and a beautiful wedding film. The pictures below are courtesy of Derek Fowles Photography,  recommended vendor of the Cranwell.

The vendor of the month for July is one of my favorite reception facilities in Connecticut to film a wedding at. On my most recent visits, Saint Clements Castle had it all for Meghan and Chris in April putting on a flawless wedding.

Saint Clements Castle is located along the Connecticut River and it provides several options for a wedding ceremony. In April, Meghan and Chris had their ceremony on the back lawn overlooking the river. The back lawn site has a slight down slope which makes the river backdrop even more beautiful. Ceremonies at the castle can also take place in the Sunken Garden, or indoors in the intimate Art Gallery.

The grounds at 113-year old Saint Clements Castle are beautiful with so many different areas for the photo session, which always adds so much to our wedding films. To steal a line from their website, Saint Clements has “meticulously landscaped sunken gardens, gracious courtyards and manicured lawns surrounding this classic example of French Tudor and Bavarian architecture complete with spectacular water views of the Connecticut River.” The food, whether your having stations or a sit-down dinner, is always very delicious and the service comes with the same high standards.

Meghan and Chris’s video will be up on the blog soon to add another look into this fabulous facility.

February’s vendor of the month is one that we are extremely excited to be partnered with in creating great wedding films. The Lord Thompson Manor in Thompson, Connecticut is a truly a romantic and elegant facility that is second to none with their quality of food and high-level of service. I am always very excited to head just south of Worcester, Massachusetts to this top-notch wedding venue.

The Lord Thompson Manor is a country estate is set on a 40-acre property with their towering trees and tranquil paths that make it a one-of-a-kind facility. It is conveniently located just off the I-395 and it is designed to host all your closest friends and family in one location. The James Beard Foundation Celebrated Chefs always design a delicious menu that is just one of the ways that each wedding becomes at unique experience at the Manor. No two weddings are alike at the Lord Thompson Manor and that is one of the major reasons that I love working with brides in Thompson, CT.  Jackie and her staff create a personalized wedding each and every time.

The Lord Thompson Manor has the grounds to host wedding ceremonies, as well as receptions and the options are endless with the 40-acre property. The picture taking opportunities also offer a multitude of options to make your day not only beautiful through the pictures and video, but more convenient as well. The manor also offers a fabulous sister property called the Cottage House that is the perfect place for the bride’s preparations, as well as possible spa treatments. Now, who wouldn’t want that on their wedding weekend?
