Bri + John found us through one of our favorite couples in Becky and Matt Hall. Their Vermont wedding pulled us out of Boston for a picturesque weekend in the quaint town of Dorset. With a northern location in the Green Mountains of Vermont, the leaves were just starting to turn on this September weekend which provided a great landscape for the photo session, as well as during other parts on the day.

The entire wedding took place within walking distance, as the preparations, the ceremony and the reception were almost all on the same street. The preps were filled with laughter and included a sentimental gift exchange between the couple. After a first look in the mountains, the couple were married in the United Church of Dorset. It was one of those small, adorable churches with lots of character.

The reception brought us directly across the street to the Dorset Field Club for an elongated cocktail hour on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Bri and John’s reception took place under a beautiful tent at the Dorset Field Club. The Field Club is actually the oldest continuously operated gold course in the United States. We enjoyed sharing the day with Alexandra Roberts and the super friendlyTara Pollio from Tara Pollio Floral Event Design. Enjoy our latest Boston wedding film from the Green Mountains of Vermont.

We met Sammie and Jeff through our friends Edna and Kasie at EFD Creative Event Planning and Design. What makes these two such a great couple is that they love each for exactly who each person is and has become. To quote the sarcastic Jeff is his vows, “I vow to be a quality roommate. I’ll work hard to drastically improve my home improvement and handyman skills to a solid ‘below-average'”. To quote Sammie in her vows, “I will continue to play games with you, even when we grow old and can’t remember the rules.” It was a Boston wedding film that I really think shows how we incorporate each couple’s personalities uniquely into each final film.

Sammie and Jeff and the team at EFD Creative did a marvelous job creating a beautiful and elegant wedding day throughout. The ballroom looked amazing for the reception and you can see how amazed the bride was in this video that we released shortly after the wedding. We loved the details that featurd the #gettinggrilloed hashtag that played off Jeff’s last name, as well as the superhero cufflinks that Jeff incorporated.

We were so lucky to work with so many great wedding professionals beyond the EFD Creative team and the Boston Harbor Hotel staff. David and Jo from Allegro Photography were our visual counterparts, while so much of the beautiful decor came from the talents of Orly Kohn Floral Boutique, Suzanne B Lowell Lighting Design and Cakes to Remember. Enjoy this perfect summer day on the Boston Harbor in our latest Boston Wedding Film.

Make sure you budget for a wedding video or film. It is easy for me to say, because it’s my passion. Not getting a wedding video or film continuosly lands on, or tops the list of regrets for couples after the wedding. If you don’t believe me, check out this article from the Huffington Post. Well, the wedding filmmaking community is strong in the Boston area, as the majority of the top filmmakers in Beantown collaborate on a regular basis to improve our crafts. That is why I am not hesitant to have our Newbury St. neighbors Kathy and George Horemotis of S.H. Videography give our latest wedding tip about wedding films on our blog. Boston Wedding Group members Kathy and George talk about budget and what one of the common mistakes couples make in the wedding planning process.

Every year, it seems that we get to travel a little bit more each and every wedding season. Last year, we filmed our first wedding event on Block Island in Rhode Island. This time it was not the wedding of Pam and Nick, but their 20th year vow renewal. For Pam, it was a great reason to throw a party on the island (which she loves to do) that her family relaxes on every summer. The weekend celebration and Leslie Ulrich’s work was featured in Newport Wedding Magazine – you can see it HERE.

The wedding film had more of a documentary feel in many ways, as we interviewed many of the couple’s family and friends over the weekend to really bring out what has made Pam and Nick so successful over the past twenty years. We were also able to spend a little time with the family on the beach as part of the weekend filming experience. Pam and Nick renewed their vows at the Spring House, which boasts fabulous views of the ocean and some of the nicest accommodations on Block Island. They stood alongside their two children who also added their take to the documentary feel of the film with two interviews that were delivered well beyond their ages. The party was one that lasted late into the night and included a performance from the dance crew Static Noize and a fireworks show that the whole island got to enjoy.

Pam and Nick’s Block Island feature film clip shows the end of the night including much of the dancing, including the couple’s exceptional swing skill, and the firework show that stopped the island in its tracks. We are venturing away from our Boston wedding films and filming more and more weddings on Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Block Island and enjoying every minute of it. So, reach out to us if you are getting married on one of of the islands south of Massachusetts or Rhode island. Until then, enjoy the show.
