Earlier this spring, we were fortunate enough to be asked to take part in a wedding planning conference put on by wedding planner Andrea Poisson Delucia of Elegance & Grace Weddings. The Elite Workshop took place the historic Dane Estate at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, MA and featured several of the top professionals in their field from the New England area. The conference was designed to help the younger professional in our industry begin to grow their business, but the wealth of information provided could have benefit the most seasoned professional in many ways.

We were honored to be one of the speakers at the conference, as we shared the importance of cinematography and the important things to consider when searching for a videographer or cinematographer for your client (as a wedding planner). Our talk was just the beginning of a day-long workshop that focused on growing your business through branding, stylized shoots, photography, getting published in magazines, incorporating a floral event designer, and utilizing specialized vendors to up improve your event. Some of the professionals who presented at the workshop included the event’s organizer Andrea Poisson Delucia, Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the Shore, Danielle Duane of Boston Magazine, Binita Patel of Binita Patel Photography, Erica Jones of Orchids N’ Blooms Event Design, Jennifer Iovino of JMI Branding Forward and Crystal Mills of Wanderlush Boston. We have always believed in giving back to the industry that has been very good to us. And, Andrea and the team of professionals assembled for the Elite Workshop live by the same motto. Enjoy this short highlight film of the conference from this spring.

After two great years in the heart of Boston on Newbury Street, JPod Films has opted for a larger space a little further out from the city. As of March 1st, JPod Films will now call 44 Washington St. in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts our new home.

The new location allowed us to have a bigger space to work and to meet with clients. Although we will miss the hustle and bustle of Newbury St, as well as Thai Basil’s Chicken Pad Thai, our new space is in a great location near the Mass Pike and I-95 Interchange. The new, larger space also provides our clients residing outside the city easier access to meet with us, including free parking options. Additionally, we will be sharing our space with two great event professionals in SD Events and Allegro Photography.

Simple Design Events, better known as SD Events, is a wedding planning company that takes a vision and turns into reality. Owner Tasha Bracken, as well as event Producers Renee Sabo and Priscilla Kwong provide this full-service boutique firm with a strong team of professionals that can handle events of any size.

David and Jo Lee from Allegro Photography are ingrained with our similar Western Mass. ties, before they took Boston by storm just over five years ago. Their images always take advantage of available light and their eye for composure is phenomenal. Add to that their friendly, easy-going personalities, and know you know why we are excited to share office space with them.

I have been blessed to cross paths with some tremendous photography talent over the past six months. Right at the top of my list is Kristin Spencer Photography out of Newport, RI and they are my vendor of the month for July.

Kristin Spencer Photography is made up of the husband and wife team of Jared and Kristin Spencer. I met up with the talented duo just a few weeks ago while filming a wedding at the State Room in Boston. One of the things I appreciate the most about Kristin is that fact that she communicates well. The day went seamlessly, as we worked together to get all the necessary shots to make each of our respective products as great as they could be for our bride and groom. From the first look at the InterContinental in Boston, to the photo shoot at the Boston Public Gardens, to the ceremony and reception at the State Room, the night could not have gone more seamlessly.

And, that is the side of Kristin and Jared you don’t get to see on their website. What you do get to see is then unbelievable work. The words that come to mind when I see their photography is clean, elegant, well-composed, fun, stylish, and filled with personality (<– I like that ). On their website, Kristin Spencer Photography is described as: edgy-chic, elegant, observant & spontaneous imagery captured as your unique signature of style and personality. Their work speaks for itself. Therefore, whether your in Newport RI, Boston or the New York City, keep Kristin and Jared on the top of your vendor list when searching for a wedding photographer.

With the new blog, I knew I would have to bring back some of the best vendors of the month to receive the honor for a second time. There is no better vendor to start the two-time honorees with than And the Beat Goes On DJ out of West Springfield, Massachusetts.

If there is one vendor that I would say is the ‘must have’ vendor in this area, it’s Dan Cavanaugh from And the Beat Goes On DJ. Dan is pound for pound, across all areas of the wedding industry in Western Mass. and Connecticut, the most complete vendor available. Dan has the experience (over 1500 weddings), he has the passion (his energy is contagious), he has the professionalism that I truly connect with, and he has the ability to keep every party rolling all night long.

I get paired with Dan on several occasions every year and I thoroughly enjoy working by his side. First of all, he makes all of my films so energetic during the dance segments. Secondly, Dan is always so well prepared, as he will meet with couples up to three times before their wedding date. Brides and grooms always come into their wedding day with the utmost confidence in their DJ for good reason.

Once the reception begins, Dan is phenomenal as the Master of Ceremonies. The energy level he creates as the newly married couple enters for their reception is just awesome. As the night continues on, Dan has the ability to read a crowd and play the right music to keep the dance floor packed all night long. There are only a hand full of DJs that truly have this ability and Dan is one of them. Reception Coordinator. Master of Ceremonies. Top notch Disk Jockey. Dan Cavanaugh does it all at every wedding reception.
