Alex and Sean brought a worldwide flair to our latest Boston wedding film. The couple met in Boston, but they currently live in England. Add to that, Alex’s parents live in California, much of her family is across the pond in Scotland and Ireland, and their guest list included friends and family from as far away as Dubai and Australia. Scotland and Ireland were well represented in attendance and in attire, as the men chose to wear traditional Scottish kilts with bow ties and jackets.

The couple chose to keep all of the formalities in one location, as the preparations, ceremony and reception all took place at the Omni Parker House Hotel on School Street in Boston. We got to work with three of the most talented and extremely calm, cool and collective wedding professionals you will ever meet in Paula Marrero of Marrero Events, Zev Fisher of Zev Fisher Photography, and Michelle DeVoe of Demiche Beauté. The calmness surrounding the wedding is one that we always welcome.

Alex and Sean chose to incorporate a Same Day Edit Film into their evening, which allows those in attendance to see a highlight film from the wedding day just hours after it unfolds. Coming from a television news background, we love filming and editing these Same Day Edits, as it they bring us back to the deadline-based environment of the broadcasting world (just for a day though). The Same Day Edit features a cool first look with Alex’s Dad, a photo shoot including a pedi-cab, and groom with an awesome reaction during his entrance to the reception. Enjoy our latest Boston Wedding Film!

This week’s wedding tip comes from one of the top wedding planner companies in Boston and New England. Courtney Graham of Marrero Events and the Boston Wedding Group is a big supporter of having a first look, and we here at JPod Films have a similar view. We both believe that a first look has so many advantages to making your wedding day all that it can be. Many traditional couples will forgo this recent trend, but we think you should really look at the benefits before eliminating this from your timeline.

In addition to all of Courtney’s great points (which we agree with), we believe that having a first look will also make the whole day more relaxing as it “loosens” the timeline. You will be less rushed throughout the day, and by attending the cocktail hour, you will have a better chance to interact and thank your guests. That will translate to having more tie and more fun at your reception. For us filmmakers, the added interaction, emothion and personality of the couple’s first look helps make our Boston Wedding Films that much better.  Let us know what you think below and subscribe to our feed to see more wedding tips as we unveil them each week.

June is the month that we have dedicated to getting the Boston Wedding Video blog back on a regular schedule. We start the month off with the old tradition of honoring some of the “Best Vendors” around New England. We work with a variety of wedding vendors every weekend and we like to share some of the wedding professionals that brides should consider when planning their wedding weekend.

Boston Wedding Planner

First up is a wedding planner that we worked with while shooting a Boston wedding video at the Royal Sonesta last month. Marrero Events was brought in to organize and manage an extremely detailed wedding plan in the capital city of Massachusetts.

Marrero Events is owned by Paula Marrero and she comes with a plethora of experience planning high-end events.  Paula burst on the Boston wedding planning scene as she managed events for Celebrity Chef Todd English. Now Paula heads a company that plans events from casually elegant to absolutely breathtaking. Marrero Events offers event planning services from Day of Coordinating to Complete Wedding Planning.

At last month’s wedding, Paula was joined by one of her new assistants, Courtney Graham. Paula and Courtney organized the wedding activities, which spanned well over 12 hours, meticulously. The wedding had an iconic Boston theme with details including a rehearsal dinner in Faneuil Hall, a T-train place card display, and a photo session that crossed the city to famous Boston sites. The continuous activities from the Tish, Ketubah signing, pre-ceremony reception, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were littered with special touches that Paula and Courtney made sure hit their mark. If you need to take the stress out of your wedding day, I would highly recommend you contact Marrero Events (www.marreroevents.com) for your event. A Boston wedding video from this wedding will be on our blog before the end of the month, as the couple chose to add a highlight film to their feature film investment.
