One of the largest trends that has swept through the wedding industry is the use of uplighting in wedding venue spaces. At first, we were only seeing uplighting in our upscale Newport and Boston wedding videos, but now the trend is everywhere. That is a good thing and a bad thing. Proper uplighting can transform rooms into elegant and beautiful ceremony, cocktail and reception spaces that look fabulous in a wedding video. But, who lights your room will make the difference between having some color on your wall and truly transforming a wedding venue.
There are a lot of wedding vendors who offer uplighting, so it is hard to figure out what you are getting in the end. To help breakdown the science of uplighting, I have enlisted Jim Powers of CJC Event Lighting to give an uplighting 101 lesson for this month’s wedding video tip. Jim has been responsible for uplighting several of our Boston wedding films lately. I respect the time and effort Jim puts into each client by meeting them at the venue to discuss potential options for the space. In part one of this video wedding tip, Jim will cover color washing your walls, changing colors, and the use of textures.
